Le Buton

Projects at Le Massif de Charlevoix continue to roll in this summer: new bike trails, infrastructure revitalization projects on the mountain and much more.

Buton

Among these revamped infrastructures are the Camp Boule chalet which has become the mountain refreshment bar, the Base Camp chalet which is on its way to regaining its legendary après-ski vocation, as well as the former departure ramp built at the top of the Buton for downhill ski races, which has now become one of the most beautiful lookouts in the Charlevoix region.

Button

The emblematic buton

This emblematic and historic promontory of Le Massif de Charlevoix is a 30-metre rise, built in September 2001 with the earth from the snowmaking basin. The goal of this development was to become an Olympic standard trail for downhill skiing. Today, this lookout offers an impressive and unique 360 degree panoramic view.

Buton

The perfect ride with a view

Reaching the brand new lookout at the top of Buton is definitely the perfect hike or bike ride. If you are hiking, take the Le Buton trail, while if you are biking, take the Cerise sur le sundae loop. Both trails start at the top of the mountain. Pack a picnic lunch when you stop at the lookout to enjoy the breathtaking 360-degree view even longer.

This new bike loop is a ride for everyone and definitely a trail to discover with your family. It is possible to practice its inclined turns while admiring the breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River. The trail starts from the summit, near the parking lot, which allows you to get comfortable before starting a complete descent of the mountain. This is a beginner level trail.
