Welcome and Course Procedure
First Lesson:
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early at the Ski School, located at the top of the mountain. If you haven’t signed the waiver yet, you’ll be able to do so on site.
Our team of instructors will welcome you outside, next to the bell-shaped sign on the side of the school. At that time, your child will be directed to their group, identified by a numbered post, and can leave their lunch box, which will be handled by our team.
You’ll also have the opportunity to meet your child’s assigned instructor and discuss the program’s structure. The entire Ski School team remains available to answer any questions.
Following Lessons:
For subsequent lessons, please go directly to the same post and instructor assigned to your child during the first class. Post numbers will remain the same throughout the season. If the instructor is replaced, the post number will still be your reference.
It is very important to arrive about 10 minutes early to ensure a timely start.
Special Needs
If your child has any special needs—physical or psychological—that may affect their learning, please inform us during registration or at the first lesson.
We have trained instructors who can support children at their own pace, respecting their individual needs.
Group Changes
Groups are formed based on the needs of registered children, but some variation in skill level may occur. During the first week, the instructor will assess group consistency. Adjustments may be made during the first two lessons.
For any questions or requests, please speak with the team leader on the outdoor field before or after lessons. Requests will only be handled on weekends by managers, instructors, and the team leader. No requests will be processed during the week at the Ski School counter.
Delays, Absences, and Cancellations
Delays:
Lessons start on time. It is essential to arrive promptly. Your child remains under your responsibility until they are physically taken in charge by the instructor.
If you anticipate being late, please notify the Ski School counter at least 45 minutes before the lesson starts. This allows the instructor to be informed and wait at the designated location.
Absences
Missed lessons cannot be rescheduled, regardless of the reason. If you know your child will be absent, please inform the instructor in advance.
For unexpected absences on the morning of the lesson (illness, unforeseen events), there is no need to contact the Ski School.
Rescheduled Lessons
Severe weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control may lead to lesson cancellations. In such cases, you will be notified by email no later than 7:30 a.m. on the same day.
Please do not call the counter in case of cancellation. Instead, check the Massif de Charlevoix website. No message will be sent if lessons proceed as scheduled.
Cancelled lessons will be rescheduled for the weekend following the planned end of the season, up to a maximum of two make-up sessions.
End of Lessons & Evaluation
At the end of each lesson, please pick up your child at the location designated by the instructor or at the starting point.
During the second-to-last or final lesson, your child’s skills will be assessed on the mountain by an instructor. This evaluation will determine the level achieved and help place them for the following season.
If you will be absent that weekend, please inform the instructor so the evaluation can be rescheduled.
Enrollment in the program does not guarantee level advancement. Some levels may require more than one season to complete. It is perfectly normal for a child to remain at the same level for several seasons, depending on their developmental pace.
For any questions, feel free to speak with the instructor or the Ski School team.
