the train - the on-board experience
Climbing aboard the Train of Le Massif de Charlevoix is to be carried away on a rail cruise experience where momentum builds as the scenery unfurls, deep in the heart of one of the most photogenic regions of Quebec. The beauty of the landscape – soaring mountains on one side, the St. Lawrence River on the other – nourishes the heart and spirit of travellers, while their taste buds are sated with terroir delicacies on a wonderful adventure in gastronomy.
All Senses on Alert
Passengers discover the Charlevoix, its traditions, legends and hidden treasures from a fresh angle. As they journey along rocked by the rhythm of travel, the Train’s interior comes to life, activated by the time of day or night, by the passing seasons and the outdoor elements dancing by. Exquisite Charlevoix fare satisfies the finest of palates, technology – discreet and intuitive – takes centre stage and a story unfolds. The magic begins: Montmorency Falls, Île d’Orléans, Cap Tourmente Wildlife Reserve, Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, Baie-Saint-Paul, Isle-aux-Coudres, Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, Saint-Irénée and La Malbaie swirl by, painting the backdrop to an ever-changing rail cruise experience.
On-Board Gastronomy: Terroir Fragrances and Flavours, from Field to Fork
In time with the seasons and the selected rail cruise, a breakfast or copious three-course lunch opens the introduction into Charlevoix culture. Terroir products and regional savoir-faire are spotlighted both ways during the journey, showcased in gourmand après ski fare or a lavish four-course gastronomic dinner also elaborated by Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu Executive Chef, Jean-Michel Breton. Exclusive to the Train, his menu is composed of fresh, full-flavoured ingredients – the signature products of local growers and producers who have made the Charlevoix’s reputation in the world of agrifoods. Among these are la Ferme Basque de Charlevoix, la fromagerie St-Fidèle, Champignons Charlevoix and Cidres et Vergers Pedneault, to mention but a few.
On-Board Technology: A Rare Visual, Acoustic and Sensory Performance
No detail has been spared to optimize the on-board experience, and every touch contributes to enhancing its quality. Throughout the journey, lighting and sound textures modulate the ambience, while electronic shelves with geolocator-activated content featuring historical and cultural information, and anecdotes too, are built into each tabletop. As the rail cruise evolves, passengers explore the Charlevoix’s best kept secrets at will, and in detail. Internet access is also offered to passengers.
On-Board Happenings: An Inclusive, Inviting Environment – with Full Charters too
The Train offers corporate groups and clienteles flexibility and diversity. It creates the perfect staging for celebrating an anniversary or a special event, while chartering a railcar denotes both unusual flair and flavour. Or why not charter the convoy!
