LE MASSIF DE CHARLEVOIX RAISES $7,036 FOR DR CLOWN!
9 March 2011
Charlevoix, March 9 2011 – It was in a very merry ambience that management at Le Massif de Charlevoix proceeded with the official remittance of a cheque in the amount of $7,036 to the representatives of Dr Clown’s happy brigade of therapeutic entertainers, last Saturday, March 5 2011. This generous donation results from two events held this season at the Charlevoix ski area.
December 19 2010, a fundraiser took place at the mountain on the occasion of the annual Santa Claus Day. Sports enthusiasts of all ages donning the season’s apparel – white beard, red hat and coat – were given access to the ski area’s snowy trails for as little as $15.
Saturday, March 5 2011 was the offical Dr Clown Day. On mountain, clowns triggered giggles among slide sport fans everywhere, and increased awareness about the importance of their mission. All were invited to visit the organization’s welcome table in the Summit Chalet and offer a donation, or place a bid on an item featured in their silent auction. A very special run concluded the day: Jean Bond, on stilt-skis, sailed the trails accompanied by his loyal acolytes - kids!
About Dr Clown
The Dr Clown mission is to contribute towards improving the quality of life of hospitalized patients through therapeurtic clown programs, ‘prescriptions for tenderness’ that combine complicity, playfulness and the imaginary. The organization has attracted professionals from the areas of health, business and the arts. Its goal is to integrate clown-doctors into health plans throughout all of Canada’s healthcare establishments, and thereby spread tenderness, smiles, lightness and joie de vivre.
